About Me:

I started Big Green Purse because I believe we can make our money matter and change the world. I've been working to protect the environment since I got my Master's Degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Michigan thirty years ago. I live in an "eco" house I helped design and build in 1985, and try to do my best to lighten my impact on the earth. I launched the One in a Million Campaign to inspire one million people to shift their spending to eco-friendly products and services. It's exciting to see how many people are signing up!

How I'm spending my $1000:

I buy organic milk and produce; I buy household sponges rather than paper towels. I have been trying to purchase clothing made from recycled or organic fibers, but that can be challenging, since there aren't a lot of options in department stores yet. I buy baking soda and vinegar or Bon Ami instead of cleaning products that contain more potent chemicals. Now that it's spring time, I'll be buying native plants.
